Rosé and Bruno Mars return to No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart with “Apt.,” now an … More
Rosé has demonstrated time and again that she’s not just a K-pop star, she’s a worldwide superstar, one who can succeed no matter the style of music she’s making. The Blackpink singer reached the top of the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. with Bruno Mars months ago, and now, she’s back in charge alongside the Grammy-winning hitmaker. Their collaboration “Apt.” returns to No. 1 on the chart that ranks the most popular songs around the world — excluding American activity — and as it does, it continues to make history.
“Apt.” Returns to No. 1 on Billboard’s Global Chart
“Apt.” rises one spot to No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., swapping places with another blockbuster hit. The cut is now in charge of the worldwide tally for an eighteenth nonconsecutive week. That impressive sum helps the track pull further ahead of Mariah Carey’s holiday smash “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has led for 14 frames.
Bruno Mars Recently Hit No. 1 With a Different Song
While “Apt.” is back in control, it was only a week ago that Mars was at No. 1 with another track. “Die With a Smile,” his dramatic duet with Lady Gaga, led the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. in the previous frame.
“Die With a Smile” has now claimed the throne for 11 weeks in total. That total places it among the five longest-running rulers in the history of the ranking. It currently sits behind “Apt.” (18 weeks), Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (14), and both Harry Styles’s “As It Was” and Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” (13).
“Apt.” and “Die With a Smile” Have Been Battling for Months
Throughout 2025, “Apt.” and “Die With a Smile” have taken turns leading the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The two smashes have been in a near-constant back-and-forth, each dominating for a short sting before being replaced by the other. They are two of just three songs that have ruled the chart since the beginning of the year.
Carey’s Christmas staple kicked off 2025 at No. 1 thanks to continued seasonal consumption. Once the holiday magic faded, “Apt.” took over and quickly established itself as the track to beat. It has spent nine frames at No. 1 this year alone — exactly half of its total run atop the tally.
“Die With a Smile” hasn’t been quite as dominant in 2025, but it has still managed to rack up another three frames in charge during the past few months.
“Die With a Smile” First Reached No. 1 in Late 2024
“Die With a Smile” first rose to the summit of the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. back in September 2024. The Gaga collaboration enjoyed a strong eight-week run in first place before being unseated — interestingly enough, by Mars himself.
As “Apt.” returned to the top spot, it interrupted the reign of “Die With a Smile,” and the two songs have been competing ever since. Eventually, Carey’s annual resurgence pushed both tracks down for a short time, but only temporarily.
