Residents and visitors to Palm Beach this weekend can expect to encounter gridlock throughout the town with the closure of two major thoroughfares.
South Ocean Boulevard next to President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club is closed to through traffic until further notice, Palm Beach said in an alert sent Thursday morning.
Trump arrived Friday for his seventh visit to Florida and sixth to Palm Beach since his Jan. 20 inauguration.
Drivers on Cocoanut Row on Friday afternoon endure long lines of gridlock.
Palm Beach’s announcement follows the Federal Aviation Administration’s issuance Tuesday of temporary flight restrictions over Palm Beach.
The flight restrictions went into effect at 6:15 p.m. Friday, and end at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, essentially meaning Trump will be in Palm Beach from Friday night through sometime Sunday.

Traffic congestion was significant Friday afternoon on westbound Royal Palm Way as dual road closures related to Mar-a-Lago and the Palm Beach International Boat Show gave motorists less room to maneuver.
Also adding to the traffic woes for the island is the closure of Flagler Drive and other West Palm streets for the upcoming Palm Beach International Boat Show, which begins Wednesday.
