‘Pushpa 2 The Rule’ Is Second Most-Watched Film On Netflix Worldwide

Indian star Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 The Rule landed online on January 30 and the film is already the second most-watched non-English film worldwide on Netflix. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Pushpa 2 The Rule climbed up the global list in just four days on Netflix and also topped the most-watched lists in seven countries while making it to the top 10 in 15 countries.

Pushpa 2 The Rule is being watched worldwide, and it topped the list of most-watched non-English films in seven countries apart from being the second most-watched film globally. It also ranked among the top 10 in 15 countries around the globe. It registered 5.8 million views and 21.8 million watch-hours on Netflix since it released on January 30. It ranked second on Netflix’s list of most-watched non-English films for the week ending February 2.

Pushpa 2 The Rule

Amid much anticipation and huge trade expectations, Pushpa 2 The Rule released in theatres on December 5. Featuring Allu Arjun as red sandalwood smuggler Pushpa Raj, Rashmika Mandanna as his wife, and Fahad Faasil as the main opposing cop, the film released in various languages including Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. It also stars Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjaya, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, and Sunil in important roles. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music for the film and Mirosław Kuba Brożek handled the cinematography. The film was made on an estimated budget of $58 million.

After nearly a month of record-breaking spree at the box office, the producers decided to re-release the film with additional twenty minutes of footage. Initially slated for January 14, the Pushpa 2 The Rule Reloaded Version hit theatres on January 17. It is the same extended version that landed on Netflix on January 30. The film available on Netflix has a total runtime of three hours and 44 minutes.

The craze and fandom of Pushpa first began when Sukumar cast Allu Arjun as Pushpa Raj, a man with troubled childhood who turns into a dreaded smuggler. The first film in the franchise, Pushpa: The Rise, stormed the Indian box office in 2021. The Telugu film broke records not just in the original language belts, but all across India, especially the Hindi belt. The ending of Pushpa 2 The Rule included a teaser for what fans can expect from the third part of the franchise – Pushpa 3: The Rampage.

Even before the film released, it had made more than $10 million in advance ticket sales. Pushpa 2 The Rule made a humongous opening score of $19.5 million in the Indian markets alone. With that score, the film recorded the biggest opening score for director Sukumar as well lead stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna.

The film scored $50 million in two days at the ticket windows and crossed the $150-million-mark in ten days at the box office. It collected $96.8 million in India in a week and crossed the $125 million-mark at the global box in that period. Pushpa 2 The Rule has already made $210 million worldwide and is still running in theatres.
