Students at Texas Tech University held a vigil to mourn the loss of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was murdered on Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University.
On Wednesday evening, students on the Texas Tech campus held a vigil for Kirk and his family near the free speech area of the school’s student union building.
While speaking before a crowd on the Utah Valley University campus, Kirk was shot in the neck by a gunman who the Federal Bureau of Investigation says remains at large. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and died from his injuries.
Kirk leaves behind his wife Erika and their two young children.
Similarly, Americans gathered in Orem City Center Park in Orem, Utah — about 20 minutes from where Kirk died in a hospital from his injuries — to memorialize Kirk.
Attendees kneeled, gave speeches honoring Kirk, and prayed for his family.
Texas A&M University’s chapter of Turning Point USA is planning a large vigil on Thursday, September 11, in the founder’s honor.
