Comedy Central’s long-running South Park series faced fierce backlash over a recent episode mocking Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, after Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday.

The Daily Express reported that in the show had taken “multiple swings at prominent MAGA figures, including Charlie who was satirized in the episode Got a Nut.”:

In the weeks leading up to the incident, South Park took multiple swings at prominent MAGA figures, including Charlie who was satirized in the episode Got a Nut. Cartman, in the episode, imitated Charlie’s shtick of debating on college campuses.

Cartman mocked, “I’m getting really good at this! I have my arguments down rock-solid, these young college girls are totally unprepared so I can just destroy them and, also, edit out all the ones who actually argue back well.”

Several people took to social media to call for South Park to take the episode with Kirk down, and admitted that while they “used to think the South Park episode making fun” of Kirk was in “good fun,” they realized it was not.

“I used to think the South Park episode making fun of Charlie was all in good fun but it’s not,” former University of Pennsylvania swimmer Paula Scanlan wrote in a post on X. “Why is only one side allowed to be criticized? Why is the media, hollywood and entertainment so comfortable depicting right wingers as Satan?? Enough.”

“Not telling @SouthPark how they should run their show, but it would be a beautiful moment for America if they did a dedication to @charliekirk11,” one person wrote. “If anybody could do that quick of a turnaround, it’s South Park. I hope Matt and Trey do something appropriate.”

“South Park and Paramount have blood on their hands,” another person wrote. “I demand they take those episodes down! Charlie Kirk was a hero and a friend to all patriots.”

“Are we going to pretend that South Park’s recent parody didn’t fuel hatred against Charlie Kirk?” another person asked.

Azcentral.com reported late Wednesday that the Charlie Kirk episode had been pulled from TV.

“In the wake of the death of conservative media personality Charlie Kirk, Comedy Central pulled the rerun of the “South Park” episode “Got A Nut” in which Cartman imitates Kirk,” the outlet reported.

In response to Kirk’s assassination, President Donald Trump ordered all American flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Kirk. Kirk was described as a “Great American Patriot.”
