The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mauro Fernando Rodriguez-Ascue Sunday for the attempted murder of his estranged wife.

Deputies said Sunday they were called out to the 100 block W. Cedarwood Circle, Kissimmee, around 12:25 a.m. after a juvenile in the home reported “her father was killing her mother.”

Emergency responders found a woman with multiple stab wounds and transported the victim to an area hospital.

Deputies learned the suspect, Rodriguez-Ascue, had left in the victim’s car. Responding deputies were able to locate the suspect covered in blood, walking away from the stolen vehicle, and as deputies approached, the suspect “spontaneously adivsed that he had stabbed his wife,” per the Rodriguez-Ascue’s arrest report.

Officials said the victim received 27 stitches, more than 10 stab wounds, and a fractured spine from the attack.

Deputies said while they were at the home, they found a knife lying on the living room floor.

According to the arrest affidavit, Rodriguez-Ascue had an active permanent injunction against him since December 2024 but admitted to seeing her after being served the injunction.

Rodriguez-Ascue was arrested and charged with attempted murder and violation of a domestic injunction.

He is being held on no bond at the Osceola County Jail.

This is the second domestic-related stabbing in Osceola County in two weeks.
