Feb. 22—JAMESTOWN — One person was sentenced recently on felony charges in Southeast District Court in Jamestown.
Ronald Scott Thompson, 62, Fargo, pleaded guilty to prohibited acts A/controlled substances, a Class B felony, prohibited acts A/controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and preventing arrest or discharge of other duties, Class C felonies, and refusing to halt, a Class B misdemeanor.
Thompson was accused of possessing methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possessing methamphetamine with previous convictions in 2021 and 2023, possessing items used with methamphetamine with previous convictions in 2021 and 2023, fleeing after he was given a visual or audible signal by a pursuing police vehicle or peace officer, creating a substantial risk of bodily injury to a public servant or employing means justifying or requiring substantial force to overcome resistance to affecting an arrest or discharge of duty and failing or refusing to stop after he was given a visual or audible signal by a pursuing peace officer on July 23.
Judge Daniel Narum sentenced Thompson to 60 months in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation with credit for 238 days served. Narum placed Thompson on two years supervised probation and ordered him to pay a $650 criminal administration fee, $100 defense/facility administration fee, $35 indigent defense application fee, $300 indigent recoupment and a $25 victim-witness fee.
A Class B felony is punishable by 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A Class B misdemeanor is punishable by 30 days in prison and a $1,500 fine.
