The older man who was initially arrested and falsely confessed that he shot Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk was sentenced to prison and is facing a 15-year prison sentence.

George Zinn, who was initially arrested after Kirk was fatally shot while speaking to students at Utah Valley University in September, “pleaded no-contest to a third-degree felony charge of obstruction of justice,” according to Fox13 Salt Lake City.

Zinn also “pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.” He is reportedly facing “up to 15 years in prison for the crimes.”

Breitbart News’s AWR Hawkins reported at the time that after Kirk was shot, Zinn screamed, “I shot him. Now shoot me!” several times. Once Zinn had been “taken to the police station” he admitted that he lied “to draw attention from the real shooter:”

Video of 71-year-old George Zinn being led away from the shooting scene in handcuffs “about an hour after the shooting” led many to believe he was the shooter, and that therefore, the shooter had been apprehended. However, Zinn was charged with obstruction of justice, not with the assassination, FOX 13 Salt Lake City noted.

The outlet pointed to police documents indicating Zinn was arrested after allegedly screaming, “I shot him. Now shoot me!” When no officers shot, Zinn alleged yelled again, “I shot him. Now shoot me!”

Zinn was taken to the police station and, once there, allegedly explained that he did what he did “to draw attention from the real shooter.” Thereafter he “was booked into the Utah County Jail on a charge of Obstruction of Justice, a second degree felony.”

As Breitbart News reported, at the time, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R), announced that Tyler Robinson — the suspected assassin of Kirk, was in custody.
