“We Miss You, Charlie” came from a place of tremendous loss.

So many of us miss Charlie’s voice. We miss his courage. We miss the way he could step into the chaos of the moment and remind us that truth was still worth standing for.

Charlie had extraordinary courage. He was willing to stand when standing wasn’t easy. He was willing to speak when others were afraid to speak. And because Charlie had the courage to stand first, he gave so many others the courage to stand with him.

In so many ways, we are standing today because Charlie stood first.

But you can’t talk about Charlie’s courage without talking about where it came from: his faith. His faith wasn’t separate from his public life. It was the foundation of who he was and how he saw the world. I believe that is also why Charlie cared so deeply about reaching the next generation. He didn’t write young people off. He went to them. He listened to them. He challenged them to think for themselves, to understand what they believed and to have the courage to stand for it.

Charlie understood something incredibly important: If you want to change the future, you have to reach the people who are going to inherit it.

That is why I didn’t want “We Miss You, Charlie” to simply be a song about grief. As Christians, we grieve, but we don’t grieve without hope. The song begins tenderly, in that very human place of missing someone. But then it builds, because I believe grief can become courage. And courage can become action.

There’s a line in the song that says: “Truth is stronger than your fear.” To me, those words capture so much of Charlie’s legacy.

Legacy isn’t simply what we say about someone after they’re gone. Legacy is what we do differently because they lived. That is what I hope people hear in this song. Yes, we miss Charlie. But we heard him. We heard his call to be courageous. We heard his defense of faith and freedom. We watched him walk onto college campuses and into rooms where people strongly disagreed with him, willing to have the conversation anyway.

And now it is our turn to carry the torch.

It is our turn to stand boldly for our faith, our freedom and the truth and to make sure the next generation has the courage to do the same. That is why I recorded “We Miss You, Charlie.” Not simply to mourn what we lost, but to honor what Charlie left behind.

I also want to thank the entire team at Real America’s Voice and Real America’s Music for giving artists like me a platform where we can release music, speak freely and get our message to people without being censored or suppressed.

I especially want to thank Rob Sigg, Parker, LJ Fino, and everyone at RAV and Real America’s Music who has believed in me and this music. And I want to thank the rest of my team the people behind the scenes who continually fight for me, support me and work tirelessly to make sure my voice and my music have the opportunity to reach the people. Having people around you who are willing to stand behind what you believe in matters. I don’t take that support or that freedom for granted.

I hope you will watch the music video, listen to the song and share it with someone who needs to be reminded that courage is contagious. “We Miss You, Charlie” is available on iTunes, along with the official music video, and the record is also available on vinyl.

Real America’s Music is donating all proceeds to Turning Point USA and Turning Point Action to help continue the work Charlie dedicated his life to.

Charlie, we miss you. We heard you. And because you stood first, we will keep standing.
