An artist’s rendering of the Hyatt Centric Cincinnati hotel slated to open in downtown Cincinnati in 2026 in the AT580 building.

The owner of the AT580 building Downtown on Walnut Street plans to convert the high-rise building into a 170-room, luxury hotel under the Hyatt Centric brand.

Hyatt Hotels Corp. and and Indiana-based Birkla Investment Group on Wednesday announced plans to redevelop the former Fifth Third Bancorp offices in the AT580 building into a hotel, which is expected to open next year, according to a press release.

Hyatt Centric would be first in Cincinnati

Birkla, which owns the 17-story building, did not provide further details or the cost of the project.

Hyatt Centric Cincinnati would be the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Ohio.

“Hyatt is thrilled to expand its Hyatt Centric brand in the urban markets that our guests and World of Hyatt members seek most, particularly in vibrant city centers like Cincinnati, known for its rich culture and close community,” said Dan Hansen, global head of Americas development at Hyatt.

Local artists will help design guest rooms

Local artists will be recruited to help design the guest rooms, which will feature “unique touches and decor” in “modern, timeless style,” according to the release.

“Hyatt’s decision to invest in Cincinnati is a testament to the momentum of our urban core,” said Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval.
