OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) – The Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene played host to the Beckley Vet Center’s Mobile Vet Center.

This benefit center on wheels was out and about providing information and resources to community members.

Veteran Outreach Specialist James Willis, gives a little insight on why this vehicle is so important.

“Vietnam Veterans especially, they don’t know how their benefits work or if they’re eligible for benefits and things like that. And we like to get out here and come to them,” said Willis.

The services they provide are free of charge in a non-medical setting.

The services also include counseling for PTSD, depression and psychological effects of military sexual trauma. The mobile unit rolls out at least one to two times a month to provide services to lesser reached areas.

“We come out normally on the second day of the month and we try to help the veterans with their benefits and try to get them squared away in that are,” said Willis.
