Michael Bublé returns to the Billboard charts this week with a new greatest hits collection. The singer’s The Best of Bublé reaches a number of tallies after fans turned the project into a certified sales win. As the compilation arrives, it narrowly misses out on bringing the superstar back to the top spot on several rankings, as he was beaten by one of the biggest names in the music industry.
The Best of Bublé launches in second place on both the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts. The compilation likely would have conquered the two tallies, as the crooner remains one of the most famous names still working in jazz—or at least traditional pop, which blurs the lines between the genres sometimes—if it wasn’t for some unlucky timing.
Lady Gaga’s Harlequin opens at No. 1 on both of the aforementioned jazz tallies. Her new set, which is tied to the movie Joker: Folie à Deux, easily outpaces the latest from Bublé, even though the actress and singer isn’t typically known for her jazzy output.
The Best of Bublé marks the singer’s sixteenth top 10 on the Traditional Jazz Albums list. He’s earned just one fewer appearance between Nos. 1 and 10 on the Jazz Albums ranking.
Throughout his career, the Grammy winner has accrued eight No. 1 titles on both charts. He’s placed a total of 16 releases onto the two rosters, with half of them shooting straight to the summit at one point or another.
The Best of Bublé also reaches a handful of other Billboard tallies upon its arrival. The Canadian musician starts his latest release at No. 15 on the Top Album Sales chart. Luminate notes that the set opens with just under 4,900 copies sold.
The same effort also lands on the Billboard 200, though it doesn’t soar nearly as high. On the most competitive ranking of the most-consumed albums in the country, Bublé’s compilation is new at No. 159. 8,750 equivalent units—including those 4,900 sales—ensure the title reaches that position.
