Maroon 5’s Adam Levine
Hot off her debut acting role in The White Lotus and the release of her first solo album Alter Ego, K-pop sensation Lisa has joined forces with American pop culture juggernaut Maroon 5 for a new single. The song marks the latest new music from the band since their 2021 album Jordi and 2023 Mickey Guyton collab “Middle Ground” and joins Lisa’s growing list of international collaborations as a solo artist.
On the track, Lisa and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine sing to each in a game of cat and mouse between two lovers. “Baby, you’re priceless / I never had anything like this / I’m resting my head on your thighs, it’s all I wanna do,” Levine sings. By contrast, Lisa bucks emotions for material goods. “Talk is cheap, boy, stop it / I got my love, that’s a real big profit / Diamonds, AmEx, flawless, yeah / You can’t find this anywhere,” she raps.
The track, fit for a summer day by the pool, is somewhat of a musical callback to the sounds that fans have come to expect from Maroon 5. The song came about organically during the creation of their upcoming eighth studio album.
“It’s just a guitar-based song which we haven’t really done in so long. It happened first for us while we were recording the album. I think it’s just the purest and we are so happy to have Lisa on it,” Levine said of the song. “The guitar intro is literally me playing into an audio message on my iPhone with an unplugged guitar. I actually got a little emotional recording ’cause it was sort of reconnecting to our roots, which a lot of our fans have been saying ‘Hey, we want to hear that sound again.’ It’s been like over 20 years so I think it’s time for that to return.”
Maroon 5’s next album is due out this summer.
