The winter storm that’s expected to wallop the Mid-Atlantic on Monday is already leading to travel difficulties as airlines cancel flights in anticipation of heavy snowfall.
As of late Sunday, dozens of early morning flights into and out of BWI Marshall Airport were canceled. The airport warned travelers to confirm flight status before arriving at BWI. Several airlines were encouraging customers to rebook their travel for a later date.
Amtrak canceled Acela trains operating between Washington and Boston on Monday. A host of Northeast Regional trains between Washington and New York were also canceled.
The Maryland Department of Transportation also suspended MARC train service on Monday.
“Due to increasing snowfall totals forecasted from Winter Storm Blair and the decision to close the Federal Government, MARC Train will suspend all service on all three lines on Monday, January 6. A decision about service on Tuesday will be made Monday evening.”
Several bus routes were also expected to be out of service on Monday, MDOT said.
