For several months now, Madonna has been teasing the next chapter of her musical career. The superstar revealed on social media not long ago that she’s working on a follow-up to her album Confessions on a Dance Floor, which she is currently referring to as Confessions 2. There’s no word yet on when fans will get to hear anything from that project.

But they won’t have to wait long before they can listen to new tunes from the icon, as she has announced a completely separate full-length that’s set to arrive in only a few weeks.

Madonna has announced a new album titled Veronica Electronica. The full-length remix set is expected to drop on July 25. The first tune from the project, “Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit),” was shared at the time of the announcement.

Veronica Electronica features seven previously unreleased and rare remixes of songs from her album Ray of Light.

The tracklist includes smashes like “Frozen,” “Nothing Really Matters,” and, of course, the title track, as well as several other cuts. Fans who pick up a copy of the album will also be treated to a never-before-shared demo of the song “Gone, Gone, Gone,” which wasn’t originally featured on Ray of Light.

According to a press release announcing Veronica Electronica, the album was apparently conceived back in 1998 during her Ray of Light era. When the full-length took off and became hugely successful—perhaps more so than some in her camp were expecting—the remixes were put aside and never revisited until now, more than a quarter-century later.

It’s now been almost six years since Madonna released a new studio full-length. Madame X, her fourteenth project, dropped in the summer of 2019. The Grammy winner has reportedly already played Confessions 2 for some people, but when it comes to the general public, she’s remaining quiet about the set.

Madonna is also currently busy prepping a Netflix miniseries about her life, which was once meant to be a feature-length film, but which appears to have shifted mediums, perhaps in order to fit more story in.
