Penske Media via Getty ImagesFollowing his sweep at the 2025 Grammys and his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, it seems that Kendrick Lamar can do no wrong. The rapper’s music is gaining on the charts by leaps and bounds as millions of people around the country rush to stream and purchase everything from his discography.
Lamar’s latest album, GNX, enjoys its best sales week ever this frame, even though it was actually released months ago, and the vast majority of albums earn their largest sales period when they’re brand new. Purchases of the months-old collection soared by several thousand percent as Americans were reintroduced to the set via the halftime show.
GNX sold 116,000 copies throughout America last week, according to Luminate. That sum is up 10,100% from the previous period, when the title sold a little more than 1,100 copies.
Thanks to that massive sales surge, GNX hits No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart for the first time. This frame marks the project’s second on the list, as it reappears from out of nowhere in first place.
Lamar has now collected four No. 1s on the Top Album Sales chart. He first hit the peak position in 2015 with To Pimp a Butterfly. One year later, Untitled Unmastered opened in first place. The following year, Damn. also launched ahead of every other project.
The superstar hip-hop musician has seen two additional releases rise into the top 10, but not quite run the show. Both Good Kid, m.A.A.d City and Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers peaked in second place on the Top Album Sales chart when they debuted.
This week, Lamar bookends the highest tier on the Top Album Sales chart. As GNX reaches No. 1, Good Kid, m.A.A.d City bolts from No. 18 to No. 10.
The rapper fills two additional spaces on the list of the bestselling albums of any style or via any format throughout the country. Damn. steps up from No. 31 to No. 12, almost giving Lamar a trio of top 10s. To Pimp a Butterfly reappears at No. 21 after not finding space on the list just a few days ago.
GNX currently appears on half a dozen Billboard charts, and it leads all of them. The title returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Top Streaming Albums, and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums lists. It holds steady ahead of every other release on the Top Rap Albums roster. At the same time, it reappears at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart and debuts in first place on the Vinyl Albums ranking.
