Vice President JD Vance called Charlie Kirk a “true friend” who contributed directly to much of the success of President Donald Trump’s administration in a heartfelt statement after the conservative star’s assassination.
His statement to X late Wednesday night comes just hours after a still at-large assassin shot Kirk at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University promoting civil discourse.
Vance said his friendship with Vance began around 2017, when Kirk sent him a direct message on Twitter, now X, praising him for an appearance on television with Tucker Carlson.
