Jaron Ennis puts his unbeaten record (33-0 with one no contest) and his IBF welterweight title on the line on Saturday, April 12, at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, against the also unbeaten Eimantas Stanionis (15-0 with one no contest). Ennis’s belt is not the only one up for grabs during the Matchroom-promoted boxing card; Stanionis’s WBA championship is also at stake on Saturday night. Below, we look at the Ennis vs. Stanionis fight betting odds, picks, and predictions.

Ennis vs. Stanionis Betting Odds And Line Movement

Ennis opened as a -430 betting favorite over the +310 Stanionis. There has been significant line movement on the fight. Today, Ennis is the -900 favorite, while Stanionis is a +333 betting underdog.

Jaron “Boots” Ennis

The 27-year-old Ennis (33-0-0-1 with 29 knockouts) won the vacant IBF interim welterweight crown in January 2023 with a unanimous decision victory over Karen Chukhadzhian. He retained that title in July 2023 with a 10th-round knockout win over Roiman Villa. Ennis was elevated to full champion status in November 2023 when the sanctioning body stripped Terence Crawford of the belt not long after Crawford unified the welterweight titles with a win over Errol Spence Jr.

In his first defense of the IBF crown, Ennis defeated David Avanesyan when the fight was halted before the start of the sixth round. In his most recent outing, Ennis defeated Chukhadzhian by decision in a rematch in November 2024.

Eimantas Stanionis

The 30-year-old Stanionis (15-0-0-1 with nine knockouts) won the WBA crown in April 2022 with a split-decision victory over Radzhab Butaev. Stanionis did not fight again until May 2024, after three fights against Vergil Ortiz Jr. were canceled.

Stanionis was forced out of the first scheduled fight with Ortiz in early 2023 because of an emergency appendectomy. Ortiz withdrew from the rescheduled contest in March of that year because of rhabdomyolysis, a serious muscle condition. Then, in July, the fight was again scratched at the last minute because of dehydration.

Stanionis defended his title in May 2024 with a unanimous decision win over Gabriel Maestre.

Ennis Vs. Stanionis Betting Breakdown

Stanionis is good at using angles when establishing his offense. The WBA champ excels at stepping out to the side and then connecting if his opponent remains on the center line, which is something that could help him against Ennis.

In addition to his angle changes, Stanionis isn’t shy about using level changes and basing his offense on how his opponent reacts to those movements. Ennis has been susceptible to level changes and movement. If Ennis leaves his head open when Stanionis changes levels or puts out feints, expect his opponent to come over the top with a power hook to score. One issue with Stanionis’s level changes is that he can sometimes hold in the lowered position, leaving himself open to body shorts or uppercuts.

Stanionis can leap into his jabs and put much weight on his front foot. If he does that too often, expect Ennis to score with counters.

Stanionis fights behind a high guard, which is something Ennis might exploit if he employs footwork and changes angles while his opponent has that defensive guard in place.

Ennis could have a field day with his counters in this fight. The IBF champ is one of the better counterpunchers in the sport, and he should be able to score big when Stanionis steps in with his jab. Ennis’s ability to work around or through the high guard of his opponent in this matchup could determine how the fight plays out.

Ennis does nice work with his lead hand. He uses it to set the range, and he can control his opponent’s head with that hand, setting up power punches behind. He can also use that lead hand to throw out effective jabs, especially if Stanionis is dedicated to fighting behind a high guard.

Another issue with Stanionis’s defense is that his high guard can leave his body open, something Ennis will look to exploit in the hope of getting his foe to lower that guard and open up his head.
Stanionis could do well in close where Ennis sometimes lets his defense slip. The issue with this is that Ennis is likely to pick off Stanionis as he tries to enter.

Ennis Vs. Stanionis Prediction And Pick

Ennis has size, athleticism and power, which he has used in his recent fights to get the win. However, Stanionis has a chance if he can get inside and stay there and rack up damage without eating counters in the way in or having Ennis wear him down over the course of the scrap.

The betting pick is for Ennis to leave Atlantic City as the unified welterweight champion with a late knockout win over Stanionis.
