Abilene ISD got an overall C grade in the Texas Education Agency’s 2022-23 ratings.

The TEA released the ratings Thursday after a long delay caused by lawsuits filed by some of the state’s districts.

The numerical score for AISD was 72 based on a 100 point scale.

One school failed and two got an A.

Here are the grades of the individual schools:

  • Academy for Technology, Engineering Math and Science: A

  • Alcorta Elementary School: C

  • Austin Elementary School: C

  • Bassett Elementary School: D

  • Bonham Elementary School: C

  • Bowie Elementary School: C

  • Clack Middle School School: C

  • Dyess Elementary School: B

  • Long Early Learning Center: C

  • Martinez Elementary School: D

  • Ortiz Elementary School: F

  • Purcell Elementary School: D

  • Stafford Elementary School: A

  • Taylor Elementary School: C

  • Thomas Elementary School: C

  • Ward Elementary School: C

  • Woodson Center for Excellence: B

The District Alternative Education Program, the Juvenile Detention Center, Oceans Behavioral Health and Taylor County Learning Center were not graded.

There were 15,092 students enrolled in the district in the 2022-23 school year, according to the TEA. In addition, 68.5% of those students were economically disadvantaged. The district’s enrollment was 51.3% Hispanic, 31.2% White and 13.6% African American.

The 2023-24 TEA grades were also delayed by court actions.

But TEA officials said they anticipate they will be released in May.
