ForbesNYT ‘Strands’ Today: Hints, Spangram And Answers For Monday, December 23rd

Merry Christmas Eve, Strandistas! I hope you’re all having a lovely holiday. Like all of you, I’m busy with all the madness of the season so I will keep this preamble brief. We have a Strands to solve before our festive merrymaking. Let’s solve it!

Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.

Spoilers ahead.

Today’s Strands Hints

Remember, spoilers ahead!

What Are Today’s Strands Answers?

Here’s the completed Strands grid:

Today’s Strands Breakdown

This was a bit of a tricky Strands grid, simply because while all the words are nature-themed, “nature-themed” is rather broad. How is a CLEMENTINE like a BROOK exactly? Both nature-themed, sure, but what’s the connection? Well, it happens that these are all NATURENAMES. You might name your daughter HOLLY or LAUREL or your son RIVER, or your little Nelwyn WILLOW, destined to do great things, protecting the princess Alora Danan and defeating the demon queen, Bavmorda. But I digress.
