A cold frontal passage is likely this weekend with gusty winds and a wintry mix Saturday night through early Sunday morning. Temperatures will start their slump by the end of the weekend, but it’s Arctic air that settles in for early next week with some dangerously cold wind chills to boot. Remembering “The Four P’s” will be very important between Sunday night and Wednesday morning of next week.
Highs will only manage the single digits to lower teens with sub-zero overnight lows. However, wind chills will be hovering close to sub-zero territory more times than not through Wednesday morning. This extended stretch of colder weather should have us thinking about people, pets, pipes, and property. Make sure to check in on neighbors, family, or friends that may be most susceptible to the cold air, especially as wind chills turn dangerously cold early next week.
It will be extremely important to bring your pets indoors during this dangerously cold spell. If it’s too cold for you, it’s far too cold for your pets. Along with protecting our pets, make it a point to protect your pipes and property. Leaving your faucet at a drip helps keep a flow of water through the pipes which leads to a lesser risk of them freezing/bursting. Keeping the cabinets open that contain your pipes allows warmer air to get to those pipes which can also help prevent them from freezing. Following these suggestions will also help you protect your overall property.
