More than 70 Palestinians have been killed in the latest Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, according to the Hamas authorities on Thursday.
Among them are women and children, said a spokesman. The information cannot be independently verified. Dozens of people are still missing under the rubble, he said.
Residents reported heavy Israeli airstrikes, mainly in the north and south of the largely destroyed coastal strip.
Israel is increasing the pressure on the Palestinian Islamist group with a renewed ground offensive in the Gaza Strip that brought an end to the ceasefire that had been in place since January.
Israel accuses Hamas of refusing to agree on proposals for an extended ceasefire and the release of hostages.
