While the Grateful Dead hasn’t recorded new music in many years, the band remains one of the most prolific names in the American music industry. The jam rockers release multiple collections annually, and nearly every project shared becomes a bestseller.

2025 has been a particularly busy period for the Grateful Dead, as the band nearly lands back-to-back bestselling efforts as its latest release arrives.

Grateful Dead’s Greatest Hits Debuts

The band’s new compilation, Greatest Hits, arrives on a pair of Billboard charts this frame. The set opens at No. 20 on the Vinyl Albums list and No. 35 on the Top Album Sales tally. Luminate reports that in the first seven days the compilation was available, it was purchased by a little more than 3,200 fans across the United States.

Two New Bestsellers in June

Greatest Hits marks the second arrival by the Grateful Dead on the Top Album Sales chart in June alone. Just two weeks ago, The Music Never Stopped opened at No. 19. As is the case with almost every full-length the Grateful Dead releases, it then disappeared just one frame later.

Grateful Dead’s Five New Albums in 2025’s First Half

In the first half of 2025, the Grateful Dead has scored five new wins on the Top Album Sales chart. That roundup includes a pair of runners-up, as both Dave’s Picks Volume 53: Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, OH – 10/2/76 and Dave’s Picks Volume 54: Baltimore Civic Center, Baltimore, MD – 11/30/73 peaked at No. 2. Grateful Dead – Beacon Theatre, New York, NY – June 14, 1976 also spent a single turn at No. 27.

Grateful Dead Follows Ateez, Brandon Lake and Van Morrison

The Grateful Dead earns the tenth-loftiest debut on the Top Album Sales chart this week. The tally is led by Golden Hour: Part.3 by South Korean boy band Ateez. Fellow musical favorites like Itzy, Calum Hood, Brandon Lake, and Van Morrison land ahead of the jam rock group. The Grateful Dead performs better on the Vinyl Albums tally, where Greatest Hits is the fifth-highest-starting entry of the week.
