The Glendale Police Department announced one of their “brothers in blue” died in a motorcycle accident along the Loop 303.
Jose Santiago with the department said it happened Thursday morning while the officer was off-duty and confirmed he was not on his way to work.
“The family is asking for privacy at this time and that we withhold his name while they notify next of kin,” Santiago said.
Santiago said once the officer’s family is notified, the department will release the officer’s name and photo along with any other pertinent details.
The family did permit Glendale police to release a limited statement.
“As you can imagine, we are grieving the loss of one of our own,” Santiago said. “Please grant us patience through this process.”
