A sociologist on M6 struck a nerve by comparing an unsanctioned devotional installation with far-right graffiti in Nice
French television channel M6 has aired a report comparing two unlawfully installed Christian crosses to an act of neo-Nazi vandalism, drawing sharp criticism, according to Tribune Chretienne.
The controversy followed a Wednesday broadcast in which sociologist Erwan Lecoeur drew parallels between the crosses and the work of right-wing vandals. The symbols of Jesus’s resurrection featuring the message “Ave Christus Rex” ( “Hail Christ the King” ) were recently installed on the Baou de Saint-Jeannet hill near Nice.
