During an attempted home invasion in Bradenton, Florida, a homeowner fired at the perpetrators leaving one of the intruders dead.
According to police, both of the two suspects are Chilean nationals.
The incident occurred around nine o’clock at night, and deputies said surveillance video captured two men trying to break in through the back of the home.
The homeowner, who saw the attempted break-in unfolding, retrieved his gun and fired at least three shots, hitting one of the suspects. He later died at the hospital.
A second suspect is currently in custody after a canine deputy located him a few blocks away.
In remarks to reporters following the incident, Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells offered sage advice to would-be criminals in Florida.
“I praise this husband for doing what he needed to do to protect his home and protect his family.
“If you’re going to be that brazen to come into my home, once again, you should expect that you’re going to be shot.”
