Luckily, Florence has shared exactly how to say it.
She revealed the correct pronunciation while participating in Wired’s Most Searched Questions series with her We Live in Time costar Andrew Garfield.
“[It’s like] pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew,” she said, making finger guns. “Or like a church pew.”
Seemingly surprised, Andrew asked, “How do you really say it, though?”
“Pew,” Florence insisted. “Yeah, it’s Hugh but with a P.”
“Be honest finally,” Andrew replied, leading Florence to joke, “Alright, it’s pudge.”
