The cause of an overnight fire that damaged four garage bays at Cape Cod Collision in Barnstable is under investigation.
At 12:35 a.m. Sunday, crews from the Barnstable Fire Department were dispatched to 146 Thornton Drive for a call of a structure fire in a large commercial building.
“The fire was brought under control through an aggressive interior attack to ensure the fire did not spread to an adjoining building and adjacent structures,” Fire Chief Christopher A. Beal said in a press release.
Centerville-Osterville-Marston Mills, Cotuit, Sandwich, and Yarmouth fire departments also responded to the fire in the large commercial building. Dennis, Brewster, Mashpee Fire Departments covered Barnstable Fire Department during the fire.

Four garage bays were damaged by smoke and fire. The fire was under control within 1 1/2 hours. There was no one in the building at the time and no injuries were reported.
Massachusetts State Police fire investigators with the State Fire Marshals Office were requested to the scene to assist in determining a cause and the fire remains under investigation.
