The Final Destination series reboot Final Destination Bloodlines is bringing the horror film franchise back in a big way in theaters this weekend.

The first Final Destination movie kicked off the franchise in 2000 and spawned four sequels through 2011. Now, after a 14-year break, Warner Bros. hired directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein to reinvigorate the franchise and it’s already paying dividends.

Final Destination Bloodline is aiming to earn $46 million from 3,523 North American theaters in its first Friday to Sunday frame, Deadline projects. The estimated domestic tally includes $5.5 million earned from Thursday night previews.

If the estimate holds, it exceeds Deadline’s pre-release projection that pegged the Warner Bros. film to open in the $35 million to $45 million range. Box Office Pro projected Final Destination Bloodlines to earn somewhere in the neighborhood of $45 million to $60 million domestically.

No matter the case, Final Destination Bloodlines’ estimated tally is more than enough to knock Disney-Marvel’s Thunderbolts* out of the top spot at the box office after two weeks. Deadline projects that the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure will earn $15.5 million from 3,960 venues, which will boost its running domestic tally to $154.4 million.

Two more Warner Bros. releases — Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s vampire thriller Sinners and Jason Black and Jason Momoa’s video game-inspired action comedy A Minecraft Movie — are both holding strong in the domestic box office top five.

Deadline projects Sinners will finish at No. 3 with a $15 million take from 3,518 theaters this weekend to bring its running domestic tally to $240.3 million and estimates A Minecraft Movie to pull in $5.9 million from 3,468 venues to take the No. 4 spot.

If A Minecraft Movie’s estimate holds, it will up the film’s domestic take to $416.6 million.

Deadline projects that Ben Affleck’s crime thriller the Accountant 2 will take the No. 5 spot at the weekend box office with an projected take of $4.5 million. If the estimate holds, it will boost the film’s running take to $58.7 million.

Coming in at No. 6 in its opening weekend is Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Jenna Ortega’s psychological thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow, which Lionsgate estimates will make $3 million to $3.6 million from 2,020 North American theaters.
