FC Barcelona announced an outgoing player transfer via its official website and X social media account on Sunday afternoon.
“FC Barcelona and FC Cartagena have reached an agreement to end the loan of the player Lucas Pocho Roman to the Murcian team,” a statement on the matter began.
“At the same time, FC Barcelona and Club Atletico Independiente have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Argentine winger. The agreement includes a percentage of a future sale of the player to the Club.
FC Barcelona wishes him the best of luck and achievements in the future, both personally and professionally,” it added.
Barca explained how Roman arrived at the club in January 2023 from another Argentine outfit Ferro Carril Oeste.
“In his first half season as a Barca player, he participated in 11 games and scored one goal. In the 2023/24 season, the Argentine played a total of 16 games and scored another goal.
“At the start of the current season he was loaned to Cartagena in the Second Division, with whom he has played 22 games (19 in La Liga and three in the Copa del Rey) and has scored two goals.
“Starting this January, Pocho returns to the Argentine league to continue growing at CA Independiente de Avellaneda,” the Catalans further detailed.
Citing anonymous sources, SPORT gives further information surrounding the deal.
The paper says that the Argentine giant will retain 60% of Roman’s rights and he has a contract with them until 2027.
Barca has 30% of any future sale, though, as the remaining 10% belongs to the player and his camp.
Meanwhile, Independiente will have to transfer Roman to another club if an offer of $5 million or more comes in for the winger, who as said scored two goals in 19 appearances for Barca Atletic this term.
This development comes after Barca beat Real Madrid and Cadiz to the signature of another forward in Alan Godoy, whose transfer was announced at the weekend.
While there have been plenty of transfers in and out of Albert Sanchez’s reserve side, with Unai Hernandez’s sale to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia another, the first team overseen by Hansi Flick is still yet to see any in the soon-closing winter market.
