As reported earlier, a powerful magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck near Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula on Tuesday evening (early Wednesday local time).
Evacuations were underway after a tsunami warning was issued for all of Hawaii.

Tsunami alerts were issued for Alaska and the entire US West Coast.
The first tsunami wave is expected to hit around 7:15 local time in Hawaii.
Tsunami waves are expected to hit California’s coast after midnight PST.
