Eminem’s Encore returns to four U.K. charts thanks to a twentieth anniversary vinyl re-release, … [+]
Getty ImagesEminem spent much of 2024 promoting his album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), but interest in that set has largely dwindled. None of the singles from its tracklist are continuing to chart in most places, and fans of the rapper have moved on to another collection — one of his older projects, actually.
Encore is back on the charts in the United Kingdom this frame. The title re-enters two tallies and debuts on another pair, thanks to a special re-release.
Eminem’s Encore Debuts on Multiple Charts
The rapper’s Encore opens inside the top 40 on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, becoming an instant bestseller two decades after it was first shared with the public. This frame, it enters that list at No. 39.
The title doesn’t perform quite as well on a related list, the Official Albums Sales chart. It seems that when it has to compete with all projects on every kind of format, Eminem’s classic doesn’t manage to hold up quite as well. Encore launches on that list at No. 85.
The years-old project gives the rapper his eighth placement on the Official Vinyl Albums chart and his eleventh career win on the Official Albums Sales roster.
Encore is Back on Several Tallies
Eminem’s album, which was once supposed to be his final release — though that turned out not to be true — is also back on both the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums and Official Physical Albums charts. It sits highest on the genre-specific list, where it breaks back in at No. 5, which is an impressive position for a two-decade-old set.
The Grammy winner is also back with one of the bestselling albums on any physical format. Though vinyl seems to have largely powered Encore’s return this frame, it resettles at No. 77 on that list. In the past, Encore has ruled both of the rankings on which it returns.
The History of Eminem’s Encore
Encore turned 20 years old last fall. Eminem released it in November 2004, when it became a bestseller, though not one of his most critically-acclaimed sets. The effort produced hits like “Just Lose It,” “Like Toy Soldiers,” and “Mockingbird,” though it lost him several Grammys.
Fans were able to buy special edition copies of Encore on vinyl in either blue or black, which were released only recently. It seems that despite Encore’s mixed reception and its somewhat spotty legacy, fans of the hip-hop superstar still want to get their hands on a copy — especially to celebrate its milestone birthday.
