LAKE WORTH BEACH — A sedan struck and killed a 69-year-old Lake Worth Beach woman early Wednesday as she walked near North Dixie Highway, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators say Nelsa Rivera Sablon stepped in front of a southbound 2015 Honda Accord while she walked in the area of North Dixie and Crestwood Boulevard at about 6:15 a.m. The Honda’s driver swerved to avoid the crash but the vehicle struck Sablon with its passenger side front bumper, a sheriff’s crash report said.
The impact of the crash vaulted Sablon onto the Honda’s windshield, then thrown her off the vehicle and onto a sidewalk. She died at the scene.

According to the crash report, Sablon was crossing the roadway from east to west, was wearing dark clothing and was not using the crosswalk. The report did not say how fast the Honda was traveling as it approached Crestwood within the outer through lane.
The sheriff’s report identified a 44-year-old Lake Worth Beach man as the Honda’s driver. It did not indicate whether he is facing any charges or citations in Sablon’s death.
