Devin Harjes, who built his acting resume with roles in TV dramas like Boardwalk Empire, Daredevil and Manifest, died of complications from cancer at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York City on Tuesday, May 27. He was 41.
Born on July 29, 1983, in Lubbock, Texas, Devin Harjes began his career in theater productions in Texas and New York City before being cast as boxing legend Jack Dempsey in two episodes of the HBO period drama Boardwalk Empire in 2011. The following year, he appeared as an awkward social outcast in the independent film The Forest is Red, which won Best Non-European Feature Film at The European Independent Film Festival; and the coming-of-age film Boyz of Summer as one of three childhood friends in New Jersey.
Guest roles on television for Harjes included episodes of Blue Bloods, Orange is the New Black, Gotham, Elementary, Daredevil and FBI. From 2020 to 2021, he appeared as Peter Baylor, a member of a drug posse known as the Meth Heads, in nine episodes of the NBC drama Manifest.
Harjes is survived by his parents, Randy and Rosanne Harjes, and his sister Trich Harjes.
