MUNCIE, Ind. — With a flood watch in effect through Sunday morning, Delaware County has established two sandbag stations, at the county fairgrounds, 1210 Wheeling Ave., and the Delaware County Highway Department, 7700 E. Jackson St.
According to Delaware County Emergency Management, “excessive runoff” may result in flooding of rivers, streams and creeks, and “other low-lying and flood-prone locations.”
With a flood watch underway through Sunday morning, a sandbag station has been set up at the Delaware County Highway Department, 7700 E. Jackson St.
Extensive street flooding is also possible.
According to a release from the National Weather Service, “very heavy rainfall” is possible from late Wednesday through Saturday night due to “multiple wave passages.”
Among the 28 other Hoosier counties included in the flood watch are Henry, Randolph and Madison.
The sandbag stations in Delaware County are set up on a do-it-yourself basis. Those needing sand must bring their own shovels.
