Daughtry is back with new music, and the band reaches several Billboard charts this week with their latest offering. The group’s famous leader took some time away from music not long ago, following the death of his stepdaughter. Now, his first release since finding his way throughout that tragedy shows how much his fans love him and his work, and that they’re committed to continuing to support him.

The hard rock act’s new EP Shock to the System, Part One reaches just one list this time around. The short collection debuts on the Top Album Sales chart at No. 23.

The EP marks the band’s ninth title to land on Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling releases, regardless of genre or even length. It’s one of three projects—out of nine that have appeared on the ranking—that haven’t quite reached the top 10, though that’s not unusual for an EP.

In its first full week of availability, Shock to the System, Part One sold just under 3,300 copies throughout the U.S. That number comes from Luminate, the company that tracks streams and sales activity in the country—numbers which are then delivered to Billboard so it can compile the weekly rosters.

As Shock to the System, Part One appears on a single albums chart, two tracks from the set also debut. Interestingly, they land on just one tally apiece, and it’s not the same one.

“The Dam” is new to the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, the main ranking of the most-consumed tracks in the genre in America. That cut, which has been selected as the latest single from Shock to the System, Part One, opens at No. 13 on the tally. For the moment, it marks a new low on that roster for Daughtry, though the song may only be getting started.

At the same time, “Shock to the System” blasts onto the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart. That tune becomes a quick bestseller, launching at No. 9. Daughtry has now collected eight top 10 smashes on that purchase-only tally, including a pair of No. 1s—which both come from their just-released EP.
