Hot off his record-extending wins at this year’s BET Awards and just days after kicking off his Breezy Bowl XX world tour, Chris Brown has released a new single, “Holy Blindfold.” It’s the latest new music from the R&B singer since the release of his Grammy-winning 11:11 (Deluxe) album last April, and comes less than a month after Brown was charged with assault in connection to an alleged 2023 U.K. nightclub confrontation and subsequently released on bail.

On “Holy Blindfold,” Brown pleads with a lover to be his solace over The Monsters & Strangerz, Jon Bellion, and Tenroc’s dreamlike production.

“Lost and I can’t find my center / Hope can’t help the skelter in my chest / Your arms provide my shelter / Only way I sleep through my unrest,” he croons on the track. “Let the sky fall / If I’m lookin’ at you, then my lens is a rose / Holy blindfold / When I’m lookin’ at you, God rest my soul / Feel like I saw the light.”

Brown’s 11:11 album, along with the ongoing Breezy Bowl XX tour, is meant to commemorate the singer’s career more than 20 years after his debut. The album’s title refers to it being his 11th LP and contains 11 tracks, while the tour is in celebration of two decades in the music business.

“I feel like at this point in my career, in my life… what I get my joy from is filling them stands up,” he told Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay in 2023. Performing on stage at award shows is a drop in the bucket for him compared to entertaining audiences around the world in his own shows. “[It]

doesn’t fill my heart more than it does to see twice as many people in an arena,” he said. “That’s priceless to me. I’ve just started loving what I love the most about what I do — just the music and the passion, and just focus on that.”

The Breezy Bowl XX tour kicked off June 8 in Amsterdam and wraps up Oct. 18 in Memphis. Brown is due back in U.K. court in connection to the assault case on June 20, the day before he kicks off a two-night stint at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
