Charlie Kirk’s Assassination and Utah’s AI Mental Health Bots

According to the FBI, authorities have collected a great deal of evidence linking the online gaming community and a group of mental health patients—including people like Lance Twiggs—to the events surrounding the assassination of Charlie Kirk. What exactly can mental health chatbots reveal about a, if any, plot to assassinate Charlie Kirk?
The State of Utah law enforcement collected reported “text messages” between alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, and his live-in partner, Lance Twiggs, that, although immediately questioned for authenticity, on the surface appear to be incriminating. It is of interest that Twiggs, who aspired to be a “pro gamer” and has a history of gender identity struggles, substance abuse, and experimental psychiatric treatments in Utah may have participated in some of the mental health Chatbots available online.
The fact is transgender diagnosing is part of the psychiatric field, not medicine. “Trans” is not actually a psychiatric diagnosis. Rather, what is referred to as “trans” actually falls under Gender Dysphoria in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). “Treatment” is under the purview of psychiatry and the mental health systems long before any type of medical intervention occurs.
Gender identity and related treatments are part of the behavioral health/mental health system, a multi-billion-dollar industry, taxpayer funded. The entire pronoun charade like “He, she, they, them” was born from state behavioral health oversight committees that also are responsible for coining the term, “transgender” as well as “birthing people.”
Court documents and media reports suggest that Twiggs, who was active in the gaming community and on social media, became a key witness after sharing incriminating text exchanges with Utah authorities.
These text messages included alleged shooter Robinson’s alleged confession, details about hiding the gun, and steps taken to destroy evidence. Reports revealed that Twiggs was involved in supervised or experimental mental health care programs—sometimes called “experimental procedures” under Utah’s controversial psychiatric programs.
Even though it is clear Twiggs, a “trans” furry person, and others like him, were involved in what some believe to be risky digital and psychiatric on-line environments, the State of Utah has yet to provide any detail about what others may have been involved in the assassination, even if simply by being part of the chat. If one is to believe the “text message” between Robinson and Twiggs directly after the shooting, one would wonder why Twiggs has not been charged as an accessory after the fact in Kirk’s death. If the “text” between Robinson and Twiggs is authentic, Twiggs did not alert law enforcement about his partner’s admission of killing Kirk.
Chatbots is what is now being used in mental health as a form of “treatment”, by providing artificial intelligence support and guidance to users experiencing mental health challenges. Chatbots usage should raise issues when used for mental health, but even more so when involved in such a highly explosive case. In this case, however, mixing the gaming culture, experimental psychiatry, and a high-profile assassination—along with Utah’s new mental health AI chatbot laws— calls for increased attention.
On the same day Charlie Kirk was killed, September 10, 2025, The University of Utah with powerhouse tech partner Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and AI chipmaker NVIDIA announced a big expansion of its AI-powered mental health chatbots, aiming to put generative AI into digital mental health support. This announcement revealed how technology companies are moving quickly to use AI tools for mental health along with real medical conditions, even though there still are too many questions about safety, rules, and ethics associated with the technology.
Utah’s HB 452, signed into law by Governor Spencer Cox, created rules for AI mental health tools but was quickly stymied and later had to be tweaked to add greater protections that still don’t fully protect users. The law requires disclosures, privacy rules, and limits on advertising for mental health chatbots, but critics say it has many gaps and very weak enforcement. Even with changes, the Utah law doesn’t fully address safety problems or the risks of AI in mental health.
Common sense and compassion should raise concerns about whether releasing AI mental health Chatbots now is wise, especially when key psychiatric patient-witnesses are being shielded from scrutiny. This mix of online communities, unproven mental health treatments, and new Utah AI rules is occurring in real time. At the same time families, the Kirk assassination investigation, and lawmakers are trying to deal with the consequences for justice and safety.
Mental health records are rarely, if ever, disclosed in mass shootings. Odds are no mental health information will be made public during the Kirk’s assassination trial. It is interesting that the parents of Tyler Robinson have a connection to the State of Utah’s mental health system, leading one to wonder what part, if any, Robinson’s mother may have played in the transition of her son’s partner.
More importantly, though, one must wonder what digital information was obtained by law enforcement through the new Chatbot technology. Did others participate in the planning of the assassination of Charlie Kirk and what, if any, part did mental health chatbot technology play in the brutal killing?
