BTS singer V was very busy this December. The superstar released a pair of tunes aimed at celebrating the end of the year, and both became global hits. Even as the world moves on from Christmas and all things related to the holiday, one of the South Korean talent’s timely tunes becomes a smash once more.
V’s biggest hit between his pair of late-in-2024 releases saw him team up with Bing Crosby. The late legend’s “White Christmas” was re-released with V in tow, and the K-pop musician’s fan base turned it into a hit—a new one on many rankings for both artists.
“White Christmas” is on the rise on the U.K. musical rankings this frame. The track almost reaches the top 10 on both of the lists it appears on, but misses out on doing so by just a small margin.
V shoots from No. 91 to No. 13 on the Official Singles Sales chart this week. “White Christmas” brings the BTS member and Crosby within reach of the uppermost tier, though it may have to wait until next season to return to the region…if it’s ever to find space in that arena again.
The smash performs even better on the Official Singles Downloads ranking. On that list, V and Crosby reappear at No. 11 after not appearing on the list of the bestselling downloads in the country last frame.
The updated “White Christmas” has now spent four frames on the Official Singles Sales chart, but only half as many weeks on the downloads-only roster. Crosby and V peaked in the runner-up space on the two charts, failing to conquer the rosters by just one space.
“White Christmas” was preceded by V’s seasonal cut, “Winter Ahead,” which was released only a few days earlier. That track, also a collaboration, but with fellow South Korean musician Park Hyo Shin instead of Crosby, also became a hit in the U.K., thanks largely to fans of the BTS singer buying the cut in large numbers when it first became available.
The original “White Christmas” also reached the U.K. charts, in addition to the V update. The song is so popular that listeners in the country propelled multiple versions to the weekly rankings, which has happened before.
