Bronson Reed won’t be a part of the WWE Raw on Netflix debut on Monday, January 6, and he’s out for the foreseeable future with an injury that is much more gruesome than has been represented elsewhere.
Reed took to X to share specific details about his injury.
“Let’s clear up some things,” Reed wrote in the post he sent on January 5.
“Dirt sheets report ankle fracture or injury. I unfortunately smashed my talus bone completely in half, I had it surgically repaired with screws and fragments taken out. Also had some bone marrow taken from my hip and put into my foot. Now this means I won’t be at Raw Netflix Premiere, don’t expect a Rumble surprise, and the biggest loss is no Mania. Please keep up with me on social media at this time. Understand I’ve had a serious injury, undergone serious surgery, and have serious implications from that. It’s not merely a fracture!”
Reed seemed a bit annoyed by the flawed reports, and it’s understandable. The big man was finally in the midst of the kind of run that would take advantage of his undeniable presence and talents as a professional wrestler.
The linkage with the Bloodline 2.0 was something I’d hoped to see at some point, and it finally happened.
This injury pulls him out of the current plans, but the hope–at least for Reed fans–is that he will land back involved with something substantial when he returns. There is a chance Reed could feud with CM Punk, who took credit for the injury during a promo with Seth Rollins.
In the match, Punk pulled Roman Reigns off the table just before Reed landed what was supposed to be a Tsunami from atop the WarGames cage.
There are videos that show the unnatural movement of Reed’s right ankle, but I’ll spare you those for the sake of queasiness. While the injury is definitely legitimate, Reed is still a professional wrestler.
He could be duping fans about the timetable for his return. Perhaps he could return a bit before April; we don’t know for sure. Perhaps that’s just wishful thinking from someone who was excited with Reed’s growth as a Superstar and looking forward to a championship run at some point in 2025.
