The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies in the early morning hours of Wednesday passed a bill calling for reduced sentencing to those convicted of “anti-democratic acts” that could significantly reduce conservative former President Jair Bolsonaro’s sentence if it becomes law.
According to the bill’s rapporteur, Congressman Paulinho da Força of the centrist Solidarity party, Bolsonaro’s 27-year prison sentence could potentially be reduced down to just “two years.”
