Bill Maher returned to the airwaves this weekend for the first time since the fires that have been ravaging California and he is not happy.

He used his monologue last night to blast Democrat leaders Karen bass and Gavin Newsom for not being prepared for the fires, pointing out that many of the fire hydrants ran out of water. He also notes that hundreds of fire hydrants in the state have been stolen in recent years and not replaced.

Finally, he blasted the state’s incredibly high tax rates that are supposed to ensure that things like this don’t happen.

Bill is so close to getting it.

Partial transcript via Eric Abennante on Twitter/X:

“Axios ran a story on how getting the water out of the hydrants in Pacific Palisades was more complicated than it seems.

I’m sure it’s very complicated. That’s why I pay 13% of my income in the state every year to people who I assume were working on things like this.

LA’s mayor, Karen Bass, the Nero of American politics, was fiddling in Ghana while the city burned. and later . I’ve heard people say, do you want to pay more taxes to fund this? No, I want you to use the exorbitant taxes you already collect to prioritize it.”

Here’s the clip:

In another clip, his Republican guest Erin Perrine blasted Joe Biden for warning about an oligarchy in America, pointing out that Biden had no problem with big money in politics when Democrats were on the receiving end of it. Watch:

Maher has said that he is not going to be ruled by Trump Derangement Syndrome in Trump’s second term. We’ll see if he can pull it off.
