Bernie Moreno endorses Nate Morris in Kentucky Senate race to replace Mitch McConnell

Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) is backing Nate Morris in the race to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

“If we are going to put America First again, we need to send a conservative outsider to Washington, not another career politician,” Moreno said in his statement to POLITICO backing the business owner. “Nate will stand shoulder to shoulder with me in the fight to secure our border, deport illegals, and say ‘hell no’ to any attempt at amnesty.”

The endorsement comes on the heels of Sen. Jim Banks (R–Ind.) endorsing Morris. Turning Point Action founder Charlie Kirk also endorsed Morris.

In a statement, Morris said he was “humbled” by Moreno’s endorsement and “like Bernie, I’m a businessman, not a career politician, and I’m running to take out the D.C. trash.”

Morris faces GOP rivals Rep. Andy Barr and former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron in a solid Republican race. It’s one of the few remaining crowded GOP primaries in the Senate map after Trump rolled out a series of endorsements last week.

The business executive appeared on Donald Trump Jr.’s podcast earlier this year previewing his Senate bid and formally jumped in the race last month.
