The agent of Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies – Nedal Huoseh – revealed to Saudi media outlet Winwin that Real Madrid negotiated a potential transfer involving his client in the recently closed winter window.

It was around this time last year that reports started spreading about Davies joining Los Blancos when his contract expired.

The Athletic reported that the Canada international had even verbally agreed to join Madrid from June 30, 2025 onwards when he became a free agent, however recent weeks have seen Davies pushed towards penning an extension with the Bavarians after all.

Speaking to Winwin, Huoseh said that “there were always conversations with several clubs and, of course, Real Madrid was one of them”.

“But in the end, there was no signed agreement or commitment with any club, as we left the door open for the player to evaluate all the options for himself,” he added.

Huoseh said that Madrid was “in fact a serious option and we had conversations with them, just as we did with other clubs. But in the end, a decision had to be made and that was to stay at Bayern Munich.”

“Of course, [that’] swith all due respect to Real Madrid, which is a huge club, one of the most successful in history.

“It is always an honour for any player to receive an offer from such a club, just as it is with Bayern Munich or other Premier League clubs.”

“But ultimately we had to make a decision and, at first, it was difficult because we weren’t sure what would happen with Bayern Munich and the player was aware of it. Therefore, he remained open to all options on the table,” the representative further explained.

Huoseh further revealed when the last contact was between the reigning Champions League holder and his camp.

“We spoke to them in January, along with three other European clubs, and Real Madrid was definitely one of them.

“I also want to clarify something: when it comes to a footballer’s career, there are many options. But staying at a big club for a long time is not a bad thing. Sometimes, constantly changing clubs can hurt a player’s career,” Huoseh insisted.

With Davies’ former Bayern coach Hansi Flick now at the Catalans, Huoseh was asked if FC Barcelona was one of the interested parties as previously reported.

“There was interest from some Spanish clubs, but as you know, we only spoke to a few clubs, maybe three or four,” he responded, remaining tight-lipped.
