Cities across the Coast have courted Bass Pro Shops to build an outdoor superstore, and one is now coming to Jackson County.

Bass Pro Shops announced Thursday it will build a new Outdoor World store at Lemoyne Landing development on Mallet Road, which runs along I-10 from Exit 50 of I-10 to Sangani Boulevard in D’Iberville.

Jackson County Supervisors built the road with the hopes of luring major retail, similar to the big box stores in D’Iberville. The 75,000 square-foot store will provide avid sportsmen and women with “the widest selection of quality products at the best prices around, while providing genuine, friendly expert service,” the company said in a news release.

The store is expected to open in early 2027 and hire 125 “Outfitters.”

Gov. Tate Reeves said the investment in Jackson “speaks volumes about the region’s potential as a hub for economic opportunity and tourism.”

The company was founded in 1972. The only other store in Mississippi is in Pearl.

Bass Pro Shops will be opening a location in Jackson County.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to serve the sportsmen and women in the Gulfport-Biloxi Region and are proud to become members of this celebrated outdoor community,” said legendary angler, conservationist and Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris.

The company has donated more than 10% of its earnings over the past 10 years to support conservation programs in the local communities and the nation.

Veterans, active military, law enforcement officers, firefighters and state fish and wildlife agency employees receive a 10% discount on almost everything in all Bass Pro Shops, with a 5% discount on firearms and ammunition.

“This transformative development represents a significant investment in our county’s future, and we are proud to play a role in bringing such an iconic brand to the Gulf Coast,” said Barry Cumbest, president of the Jackson County Board of Supervisors.
