Four-time failed presidential candidate Ralph Nader, who ran twice as the Green Party nominee and twice as an independent, called on former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama to help lead an impeachment drive against President Donald Trump despite previously arguing that both men should themselves be impeached and branding their conduct war crimes. Opening Free Speech for People’s “Expert Legal Symposium on Impeachment & the Meaning of ‘Bribery or other High Crimes & Misdemeanors’” on Wednesday, Nader stated: I think, though, the most shocking silence of all is not just the enlightened, very rich in the academic world,…
Guest Post by Mark Keenan There are moments in history when systems of control begin to lose their effectiveness—not because they are dismantled, but because they are no longer believed. We may be entering such a moment now. The signals are contradictory. On the surface, the world appears increasingly unstable—conflicts escalate in the Middle East, economic pressures tighten, energy costs rise, political narratives shift rapidly, and digital systems expand their reach into everyday life. At the same time, something more subtle is occurring. More people are beginning to recognize that fear itself has become one of the primary instruments through which…
The four astronauts of NASA’s Artemis II were making final preparations for their return to earth Friday after launching from Kennedy Space Center nearly 10 days ago. NPR reports the crew’s Orion space capsule is scheduled to enter the atmosphere at 7:53 p.m. ET, just southeast of Hawaii. Some 13 minutes later, it should splash down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego. To make it there, the spacecraft will first have to punch through the Earth’s atmosphere at about 25,000 miles per hour and experience temperatures upwards of 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) called President Donald Trump “unfit for office,” adding that he should be removed following his threats against Iran. Kim expressed his desire to see the president removed from office when speaking to CNN’s John King. “I think he is unfit to be commander-in-chief. I think he should be removed from office,” Kim said. Kim’s comments were in response to Trump’s threats against Iran prior to the ceasefire agreement reached on Tuesday. “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” the president said on his Truth Social. “I mean, he is someone that…
Venezuela’s National Assembly on Thursday passed a new mining law, opening its doors to private entrepreneurship as the nation’s socialist regime seeks to attract U.S. and other foreign investment after decades of socialist restrictions. Bloomberg Línea reports that the Venezuelan parliament, controlled by the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), unanimously voted to approve the new 131-article legislation that substitutes Venezuela’s nearly three decade-old and notoriously restrictive mining legal framework. The new law is reportedly described to be part of “acting President” Delcy Rodríguez’s efforts to offer “legal guarantees and a more flexible tax regime” to international investors, particularly those from…
Pam Bondi will not appear for her interview next week for the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein because she is no longer the U.S. attorney general, with the New York Times reporting that she and committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) had been quietly working together to avoid the deposition. Bondi was due to testify before the House Oversight Committee on April 14 after five Republicans on the bipartisan panel joined Democrats in forcing Comer to subpoena her for her involvement in the “possible mismanagement of the federal government’s investigation” into Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and the “circumstances and subsequent…
Republican infighting is leaving Congress in legislative limbo. While there are plenty of partisan disputes that have frustrated Capitol Hill — such as the nearly two-month shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security — divisions between House and Senate Republicans have been the more significant obstacle for a laundry list of stalled legislation that could otherwise sail to President Donald Trump’s desk. Trump could intervene to settle many of these disputes, but he has kept his distance in most cases. That has left each chamber pushing ahead with their own proposals — and against their counterparts in the other chamber.…
A senior Iranian official has vowed that Tehran will “punish Israel in response to the crime it committed” and the “violation of the ceasefire terms” Israel has stepped up air strikes across Lebanon, pounding central Beirut, just hours after the US and Iran announced a two-week ceasefire, according to RT correspondent Steve Sweeney, who was caught up in the attack with his cameraman Ali Rida Sbeity. The escalation comes in an apparent violation of the truce, which mediators said was meant to include Lebanon, despite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisting it does not apply. The strikes hit the densely populated Barbour…
During an interview with CBS’s “The Takeout” on Thursday, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Rick Crawford (R-AR) said that Iran’s regime “definitely has changed. A changing regime does not necessarily equal regime change.” And “there are various challenges being presented by this decimated leadership, and those that have emerged now at the top of the leadership struggle, I think, are exacerbating those problems.” Host and CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett asked, “Do you believe the regime has changed in Iran?” Crawford answered, “Absolutely the regime has changed. I think they’ve gone several tiers deep in the leadership cadre.…
The White House pushed back on NBC’s Saturday Night Live after comedian Michael Che made an assassination joke about President Donald Trump. “President Trump attended the opening night of Chicago at the Kennedy Center, and I think that’s cool that the president is going to the theater. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?” Che said during SNL’s Weekend Update segment. Notably, the Saturday Night Live cast member’s remarks — which elicited an outpouring of cheers among the left-wing studio audience — were a blatant reference to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. As many may recall, President Trump survived two assassination attempts…
