On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “AC360,” Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) stated that we have Iran in the weakest spot it’s been in in 30 years, so it is now “the time to engage in coercive diplomacy and get a longer and stronger version of the JCPOA” and not only get inspectors on the ground and ensure Iran won’t have a nuclear weapons program over the long run and ensure that they won’t fund any of their terrorist proxy forces. Auchincloss said, “Now that we have them in their weakest position in three decades, bring them to the negotiating table with…

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said on Saturday that he will back President Donald Trump’s signature legislation after Republicans made changes to the health care language, helping leadership shore up their whip count. “I’m going to vote yes on this bill,” Hawley said. Hawley, whose intentions had been unclear, said he was satisfied by a change that would delay implementing changes to the provider tax language, which most states use to help cover Medicaid costs. He was also encouraged by an increase in the rural hospital fund, which means that his state will get more Medicaid funding for the next four…

F1F1 This article was published on 6/26 and republished on 6/28. It was easy to believe that director Joseph Kosinski had the potential to produce another beloved blockbuster after his enormous hit, Top Gun: Maverick. And it seems he’s done just that with F1. While its critic score is a bit below Top Gun, its audience score? Almost identical and almost perfect. Top Gun: Maverick had a 96% critic score and a wild 99% audience score, one of the best for a blockbuster in a decade, at least. F1 has an 86% critic score and, at least for now, a…

On Friday’s broadcast of NPR’s “Morning Edition,” co-host Steve Inskeep argued that the DIA’s assessment in low confidence that NPR and other outlets reported on isn’t contradicted by the characterization that Iran’s nuclear program was damaged severely and significantly. Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) stated that while details are still emerging, “severe and significant damage would be the fair way to characterize this.” Inskeep then said, “I appreciate that, and that doesn’t seem inconsistent with the Defense Intelligence Agency report that NPR has reported on and others have reported on that said, with low confidence, as they put it, that the…

Senate Republicans are moving toward an initial vote Saturday afternoon on their latest version of President Donald Trump’s massive tax and spending bill. But the changes made to the bill overnight may not be enough to satisfy enough senators, let alone conservatives in the House. Senate leaders got a jolt of momentum midday Saturday when Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) said they will vote to open debate. Hawley said he’ll vote for final passage, while Collins told reporters she’s “leaning against” backing the bill without major changes. But the measure, which contains most of Trump’s domestic agenda,…
