Two European non-governmental organizations (NGOs) published a report this week that found Iran conducted 1,639 executions in 2025 — an increase of 68 percent over the previous year, and the largest number of executions since 1989. The report was the latest edition of the “Annual Report on the Death Penalty in Iran” prepared by Iran Human Rights (IHR) and Together Against the Death Penalty (EPCM), which are based in Norway and France, respectively. The report has been produced every year since 2012. The two groups are generally opposed to the death penalty, but find Iran’s practices to be particularly objectionable,…

Former GOP Rep. Mike Rogers has opened up a small cash advantage over his Democratic rivals in Michigan’s open Senate race as they battle through a competitive primary. But he hasn’t taken full advantage of the hard-fought contest on the other side to build a big financial edge. Rogers raised $2.2 million over the first three months of the year and began April with $4.2 million in cash on hand, according to his federal campaign finance filing. It’s a small cushion, however, especially considering that he has no serious primary competition, with two of his three Democratic potential opponents outraising…

Chinese dictator Xi Jinping presented a “four-point proposal on promoting peace and stability in the Middle East” during a meeting with Emirati Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan (MBZ) in Beijing on Tuesday. After the usual praise and vows of mutual support to the visiting dignitary, Xi hit MBZ with his four-point peace plan, which was as laughably vague as China’s so-called “peace plan” for the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Even China’s worshipful state-run Global Times struggled to make Xi’s proposal sound like a coherent plan, or figure out what the “four points” actually were: Xi called for adherence to the…

What Is Your ‘Fair Share’? You’ve heard it from the whole spectrum of Democrats—from the rich hypocrites like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and to hapless spenders like Joe Biden who are just horrible with money. They all declare that the wealthy need to “pay their fair share” in taxes. And, actually, they might be correct about this, but their definition of “fair” is starkly different from ours at the Breitbart Business Digest. Based on Tax Year 2023 data (the most recent available), the top one percent of earners—those with adjusted gross income (AGI) above roughly $675,000—make 20.6 percent of…

The leading Republican proponents of the “DIGNIDAD Act,” a broad amnesty for the nation’s 11 to 22 million illegal aliens, have defied President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda — helping Democrats advance a plan to keep roughly 350,000 Haitians in the United States through Temporary Protected Status (TPS). On Wednesday, Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL), the sponsor of the DIGNIDAD Act, and Reps. Mike Lawler (R-NY), Don Bacon (R-NE), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), all co-sponsors of the DIGNIDAD Act, voted with House Democrats to advance a bill that will stop Trump from ending TPS for Haitians. Reps. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) and Nicole…

House GOP leaders postponed a Wednesday procedural vote on an extension of a key federal spy powers program as they scramble to land a deal with hard-liners around changes — acknowledging the truly “clean” extension that President Donald Trump is demanding is currently DOA in the chamber. There are ongoing discussions around modifying the clean, 18-month extension of the surveillance authority known as Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, that Trump is ordering. GOP leaders acknowledged in private conversations Tuesday night and publicly Wednesday morning that at least some tweaks are necessary to quell a GOP…
