On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Kudlow,” Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-MT) said that if the radical elements of the Iranian regime aren’t removed, “the end result will be even worse than it is now.” Sheehy said, “[M]ost importantly, what we’ve got to do here is finish the job. If we stop now, if we stop early, and allow the radical elements of the regime to remain in place, the end result will be even worse than it is now. So, we’ve got to finish the job.” He continued, “And my hope is, the president extends — gets the…

On the 76th day since Department of Homeland Security funding lapsed, Congress passed a bill Thursday restoring the flow of federal dollars to most of its agencies — without solving any of the policy disagreements that led to the record-breaking shutdown. The House approved by voice vote the partial DHS funding measure the Senate passed more than a month ago. President Donald Trump is expected to swiftly sign the bipartisan legislation, fully funding the Coast Guard, TSA, Secret Service, FEMA and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, along with other offices within DHS that don’t deal with immigration enforcement. Now…

After a week of walking north from the border city of Tapachula, Chiapas, in southern Mexico, the latest migrant caravan hoping to escape the Mexico-Guatemala border region has been reduced from around 1,000 to about 700. The group is the second to depart the region this year, hoping to reach Mexico City and parts farther north, where jobs are more plentiful. According to a report in La Jornada, the group of migrants who formed a caravan they call “David” has reached Pijijiapan, Chiapas, after walking 150 kilometers during the first week of their trek. The slightly more than 90-mile jaunt…
Applications for U.S. unemployment benefits fell last week to the lowest level in more than five decades, underscoring the continued strength of the labor market despite recent corporate layoff announcements. Initial claims for state unemployment benefits declined by 26,000 to 189,000 in the week ended April 25, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists had expected claims to come in at 212,000. The latest reading is historically rare. In weekly data going back to 1967, initial claims have been lower than 189,000 only 24 times out of 3,095 observations, or 0.78 percent of the time. Claims have not been lower than…
The latest Democrat primary polling of a potential 2028 match-up between former Vice President Kamala Harris and California Gov. Gavin Newsom is all bad news for Newsom. Harvard-Harris polled 2,745 registered voters this month and found that 50 percent prefer Harris as the 2028 Democrat nominee for president. Meanwhile, only 22 percent chose Newsom. Also-rans include Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (9 percent), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (8 percent), and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (6 percent). Five percent chose “someone else.” You’ll note that the obnoxious little Pete Buttigieg failed to make the list. Harris also dominates Newsom in all the demographic…
House Republican leaders are working to approve a bill Thursday that would fund all of the Department of Homeland Security except its immigration enforcement agencies — potentially ending the department’s 76-day shutdown — according to a half-dozen people granted anonymity to describe the behind-the-scenes talks. Speaker Mike Johnson is discussing the idea with members of his conference who have wanted to hold off on passage of the bill until Republicans enact a separate party-line package to fund agencies including Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol. The Senate passed the partial DHS funding measure in March, but for more than…
