Senior officials in Syria are scheduling an election to populate the nation’s Parliament, expected to take place in mid-September, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) revealed Sunday. A top election official – Mohammed Taha al-Ahmad, chairman of the Higher Committee for People’s Assembly Elections – told SANA that elections will likely be held between September 15 and 20. Voters, he claimed, would be able to choose representatives for 140 seats out of 210; another 70 would be appointed directly by interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, the head of the jihadist terror organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). The government would identify eligible…

The “Brusselian elite” proposes giving billions to Ukraine while leaving EU citizens with “crumbs,” Hungary’s prime minister has said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has described Brussels’ recent seven-year fiscal proposal as a “war budget,” focusing on support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia instead of EU citizens. The €2 trillion ($2.17 trillion) 2028-2034 spending plan published by the European Commission earlier in July includes around €100 billion in aid for Kiev and funds for its potential EU accession.Speaking at a students’ summer camp in Romania on Saturday, Orban said the proposed fiscal plan does not serve the interests of…
A federal judge on Monday expanded a preliminary injunction and blocked Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill Provision barring funding for Planned Parenthood nationwide. Earlier this month Judge Talwani, an Obama appointee, issued a TRO and temporarily blocked the reconciliation bill’s provision barring funding for Planned Parenthood. Last Monday, the judge granted a preliminary injunction in part extending a block on barring funding for Planned Parenthood. Today, Judge Talwani expanded her injunction nationwide. The judge’s ruling comes after the US Supreme Court largely restricted lower courts from issuing nationwide injunctions. CNN reported: A federal judge in Boston has widened her block on…
Millions of undergraduate and graduate students are on Medicaid.getty “The uncertainty is really scary,” says Garth Bittner, a 28-year-old studying aerospace engineering at College of the Canyons, a community college in Santa Clarita, California. So scary, that he actually read through parts of the 800-plus-page tax and budget bill President Trump signed into law on July 4th. Surprisingly, Bittner wasn’t looking for answers about the new law’s $307 billion in cuts to the student loan program over the next decade, which (among other things), will make repaying loans on income-based payment plans more burdensome. Instead, he was focused on the…
EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) – U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday he is giving Russian President Vladimir Putin 10 to 12 days to stop the killing in Ukraine, shortening a 50-day deadline he had given the Russian leader two weeks ago. Russia fired an overnight barrage of more than 300 drones, four cruise missiles and three ballistic missiles, the Ukrainian air force said, as the Russian bombardment of Ukrainian cities continued despite Trump’s pressure for it to end. U.S.-led peace efforts have also failed to gain momentum. Trump had said on July 14 that he would implement “severe tariffs” on Russia…
European leaders appear to be in two minds about the historic trade deal negotiated by U.S. President Donald Trump and EU chief Ursula von der Leyen, with some praising the pragmatism of avoiding a broader trade war and others lambasting the deal as an effective surrender on behalf of Brussels. Divides quickly emerged in the halls of power across Europe on Monday over the EU-US trade deal, which saw Brussels agree to buy $750 billion worth of American energy, purchase potentially hundreds of billions in U.S. weapons and military equipment, and invest $600 billion in America-based businesses, while at the same…
July 26 (UPI) — House Democrats are demanding the release of a document held by Jeffrey Epstein’s that allegedly contains a letter signed by President Donald Trump. The so-called “birthday book” is said to contain information about the convicted sex trafficker’s personal relationships and was put together by his convicted former associate Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003. Maxwell herself was given a 20-year federal prison sentence in 2021 for helping Epstein procure young women, and spoke Friday with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche about the late financier’s criminal activities. “Recent public reporting indicates that the Estate of Jeffrey Epstein is in…
President Donald Trump is once again setting the record straight — this time blasting the media’s selective amnesia on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal while revealing he rejected an invitation to Epstein’s notorious “pedo island,” unlike former President Bill Clinton, who allegedly made 28 separate visits. Speaking Monday during a press appearance in Scotland with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President Trump unloaded on the legacy media for ignoring the real predators connected to Epstein. “I never went to the island, and Bill Clinton went there supposedly 28 times. I never went to the island, but Larry Summers, I hear, went…
U.S. President Donald Trump warned UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer that it would be a “mistake” for the British government to censor his Truth Social platform under the recently enacted Online Safety Act. In an otherwise cordial press conference with the British Prime Minister at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, the issue of the Conservative Party-passed and Labour Party-enforced Online Safety Act threw a spanner in the works. When pressed on the possibility of the censorship law impacting users on his Truth Social platform, President Trump turned to Starmer and remarked, “I only say good things about him…
